Three relatives arrested for assaulting family member’s boyfriend

Police arrest three relatives for assaulting and threatening a man in Kampung Cheras Baru, with one suspect using a PVC pipe

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested three relatives for allegedly assaulting and threatening the boyfriend of a family member following a misunderstanding.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid said the suspects, aged between 24 and 56, were detained on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 1.40am when the 22-year-old victim was sending his girlfriend home in Kampung Cheras Baru.

A misunderstanding escalated, leading to an attack by the girlfriend’s two older brothers.

One suspect whipped the victim’s leg with a PVC pipe and punched his face, causing a fractured nose.

The victim received treatment at Ampang Hospital for his injuries.

A third suspect, the woman’s uncle, then threatened to kill the victim if he continued seeing her.

The victim lodged a police report at 4.50am on Saturday, leading to the arrests.

Police seized a pipe to assist with the investigation under Section 325 of the Penal Code.

Khairul Anuar confirmed one of the brothers has a past criminal record.

All three suspects have been remanded for four days to assist the investigation.

In a separate case, police arrested four men for suspected involvement in a road bullying incident.

The arrests, made between last Wednesday and Saturday, included three foreigners aged 18 to 40.

The case relates to an attack on a Pakistani national and his friends in Bukit Ampang on November 14.

The victim was stopped at a traffic light when a suspect shouted aggressively and tried to stop his car.

The suspect then followed and blocked the victim’s vehicle near Ampang Lookout Point.

He claimed to be from the Ministry of Defence and attempted to show an authority card.

Approximately 25 other men then surrounded and physically attacked the victim and his friends.

The victim suffered injuries to several parts of his body, and his vehicle was damaged.

All suspects in this case were remanded for three to six days to assist the investigation.

They are being investigated under Section 148 and Section 427 of the Penal Code. – Bernama
