Proton expects its new Saga MC3 to lead the ASEAN A-segment market in 2026, with over 30,000 bookings and strong EV sales supporting its growth.
SUBANG JAYA: National carmaker Proton Holdings Bhd expects its newly launched Proton Saga MC3 to become the leading A-segment model in the ASEAN market next year.
Chief executive officer Dr Li Chunrong said the MC3 has received more than 30,000 bookings since its launch last week.
He also highlighted Proton’s electric vehicle achievements during a speech at the Proton Technology Showcase launch.
Li stated that the e.MAS 7 has become Malaysia’s best-selling EV in 2025, with 8,239 units sold as of November.
“The e.MAS is at the centre of Proton’s EV roadmap,” he said.
“We believe the brand will become Malaysia’s number one EV brand soon.”
The Proton Tech Showcase offers visitors insight into the technology powering Proton’s models.
A company statement said it gathers significant engineering achievements under one roof.
The showcase provides access to breakthroughs in electrification, powertrain development and intelligent connectivity.
Display highlights include the global modular architecture platform and Short Blade Battery.
Proton’s latest Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle engine and transmission are also featured.
Connectivity exhibits by Aco Tech Sdn Bhd feature augmented reality and artificial intelligence capabilities.
Proton’s newest models, including the X50, e.MAS 5 and all-new Saga, are on display.
