KUALA LUMPUR: The Empowering Indian Entrepreneurs (EIP) programme is now the government’s official platform to showcase the community’s entrepreneurial achievements.
Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to mainstreaming Indian entrepreneurs’ potential.
He stated that coordination among ministries, agencies and the private sector is key to developing a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem.

“I am confident that by opening opportunities for recognition and strategic support, Indian entrepreneurs will not only succeed in the country, but also be able to penetrate international markets,” he said.
His speech was delivered by his senior private secretary Datuk Anbumani Balan at the 2025 Business Icon Awards Ceremony.
The ceremony at Dewan Tun Razak, Bank Rakyat was organised by Nambikkai Media and attended by its founder Datuk Seri Mohamed Iqbal Rawther.
Ramanan said the awards recognised more than 50 entrepreneurs in leadership, innovation, women’s empowerment and digital industry categories.
He noted the EIP programme provides access to financing, training and business networks through agencies like AIM, TEKUN Nasional, SME Corp and SME Bank.
As of November 2025, over 13,000 Indian entrepreneurs have benefited from initiatives worth nearly RM471.5 million.
This figure excludes an additional RM100 million under MITRA for B40 Indian community development.
Award recipients S. Manjula of Nhavin Enterprise and S. Sathies of Sanwa Tours (M) Sdn Bhd said the recognition motivates them to further develop their businesses. – Bernama
