Over 10,000 youths join KBS volunteer programmes in 2024

More than 10,000 Malaysian youths participated in KBS volunteer initiatives this year, showing strong commitment to community service and social responsibility

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 10,420 youths participated in various volunteer programmes organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports this year.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim said the figure reflects a strong interest and commitment to community service.

He stated the increase marks positive progress in promoting a culture of volunteerism and active youth participation in community development.

This year’s initiatives included MYCorps Borneo 2025, the ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme, and Sukarelawan Anak Malaysia.

Other programmes were the Furr Ever Programme and the DENGAR Rakan Muda Project.

“Their involvement clearly demonstrates that Malaysian youth are not only capable but also genuinely willing to take on social responsibility,” Adam Adli said.

He spoke at the 2025 Malaysian Youth Volunteer Day celebration during the Rancakkan MADANI programme.

Adam Adli added that KBS is committed to fostering greater youth involvement in volunteer initiatives.

This is particularly via the Rakan Prihatin segment of the Rakan Muda Lifestyle.

He said volunteering is not merely a way to occupy free time.

It is an opportunity to nurture a sense of social responsibility among participants.

Regarding Malaysian Youth Volunteer Day, Adam Adli said more than 5,000 participants took part at national and state levels.

He said this reflects an encouraging response and strong awareness of the volunteer spirit.

The event’s organisation coincided with International Volunteer Day, celebrated on December 5.

This year’s International Volunteer Day theme was “Every Contribution Matters”. – Bernama
