Terengganu FC seeks new imports to boost squad for M-League run

Terengganu FC head coach says the team needs new foreign players to strengthen the squad for the remainder of the M-League season

KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu FC requires new import players to strengthen its squad for the long remainder of the Malaysia League season.

Head coach Badrul Afzan Razali hopes management can secure several new signings during the second transfer window in January.

He specifically highlighted the need to reinforce the team’s attacking positions.

Badrul Afzan said he will meet with the technical department to review requirements before presenting them to management.

“So far, there are no issues with our local players,“ he said when contacted.

“I’m satisfied with their performances, and we have no long-term injury concerns.“

The coach stated the immediate need is for new foreign players to keep the team competitive.

“I will discuss with the technical team to identify what additions are needed to reinforce the team,“ he added.

However, Badrul Afzan noted the final decision rests with management due to financial considerations.

He also revealed that top scorer Yann Mabella is unlikely to play again this season due to a knee injury.

The French forward’s recovery is taking longer than the initial six-week estimate.

“Mabella’s absence in several recent matches was deeply felt not only by the team but also by our supporters,“ Badrul Afzan said.

He admitted the injury has affected the team’s planning to some extent.

The coach added that the other import strikers have yet to reach the expected performance level.

“For now, we must make the best of the options we have,“ he concluded. – Bernama
