Lewis Hamilton ends his first Ferrari F1 season without a podium but says fan support keeps him motivated for a better 2025
ABU DHABI: Lewis Hamilton has vowed not to give up after completing his first Formula 1 season with Ferrari without a single podium finish.
The seven-time world champion ended the campaign sixth in the drivers’ standings after finishing eighth in Sunday’s season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
It marks his first podium-less season in F1, a stark contrast to his final year at Mercedes in 2024 where he won two races.
Hamilton described his debut Ferrari campaign as a “nightmare” but insisted he is not a quitter.
“I’ve had amazing support from so many people who travel around the world to support me,” Hamilton told Sky.
“My fans have been what’s kept me going, they’ve been my rock, my family have been phenomenal supporters.”
The 40-year-old Briton said the encouragement from supporters has been a crucial motivator.
“Luckily, I have got good people around me,” he added.
“Each weekend, I see kids and adults rooting me on and reminding me why I do what I do, which is not to give up, and I am really appreciative.”
Hamilton finished the season 86 points behind his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, who placed fifth overall.
He now pins his hopes on new engine regulations for the 2025 season to help Ferrari move up the grid.
Hamilton believes a strong off-season development programme from the Italian team could revive his fortunes. – Bernama-dpa
