N9’s investment boom fuels RM1 billion revenue target

Rapid development and billions in investment are positioning Negeri Sembilan as a dynamic economic hub, with the state targeting RM1 billion in revenue by 2030.

SEREMBAN: Rapid development and a steady influx of new investments have positioned Negeri Sembilan as one of the most dynamic investment destinations in the peninsula.

Chennah Assemblyman Anthony Loke said this momentum is evident from new factory construction and increased land purchases. He stated this contributes directly to the state government’s land premium collection.

“This can be clearly seen in the non-tax revenue for 2026, projected at RM372 million, driven largely by land premiums,” he said during a debate at the Negeri Sembilan State Assembly.

Loke, who is also Transport Minister, said the state’s goal of reaching RM1 billion in revenue by 2030 is achievable. He emphasised the need for continuous initiatives to maintain a positive investment climate.

He highlighted the Seremban Sentral project as a key catalyst in transforming the city into a modern economic centre. The development includes a mall, a private medical centre and an office tower integrated with the Seremban Railway Station.

Loke added that Seremban’s importance as a mobility hub will rise with the launch of the Southern ETS service to Johor Bahru. The federal government is also upgrading the double track between Seremban and Kuala Lumpur, with completion expected within two years.

Meanwhile, Datuk Saiful Yazan Sulaiman said the state has recorded stable economic performance. He forecast growth of 3.7% to 4.0% next year, in line with national projections.

“The unemployment rate has been kept low at about 2.9%, while inflation is under control at around 1.7%,” he said.

Saiful Yazan praised the state’s success in attracting investments, noting RM7.2 billion in 2024. He reported RM6.2 billion secured as of the third quarter this year, with a projection of RM8 billion next year.

In another development, Opposition Leader Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker urged the state to install landmarks at main entrances for Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026. He said this would accelerate promotional efforts.

Mohamad Hanifah welcomed the decision to increase bonus payments for state civil servants. He asked for a detailed explanation of the transparent evaluation method and clear performance indicators.

The State Assembly sitting continues tomorrow.
