Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital will use a mechanical parking system for 600 temporary spaces while a permanent multi-storey car park is planned.
KUANTAN: Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) will implement a mechanical parking system to alleviate a critical shortage of parking spaces.
Pahang Public Works, Transport and Health Committee chairman Datuk Razali Kassim said this is a temporary solution pending construction of a permanent car park building.
“The Pahang State Health Department is working to provide 600 mechanical parking lots within the existing parking area,” he told reporters after a handover ceremony at the hospital.
He confirmed discussions with relevant parties are currently underway.
Previously, RM500,000 was allocated for preliminary work on an additional block at HTAA.
The planned block will house specialist clinics, an emergency department and a multi-storey car park.
Commenting on today’s event, Razali said the state government provided 36 sets of beam seating, totalling 108 seats, for the HTAA Emergency Department.
“After we were told about the matter, we took proactive steps by first sending 100 plastic chairs,” he said.
He urged the public to take care of the new facilities for everyone’s benefit.
The action follows a recently viral video showing members of the public sitting on the floor while waiting at the hospital’s Emergency Department.
