Leading institutional investors establish strategic stakes in Orkim following IPO

KUALA LUMPUR: Orkim Berhad has attracted strong interest from prominent institutional investors following the company’s successful initial public offering (IPO), reinforcing market confidence in the group’s fundamentals, long-term strategy, and governance standards.

The entry of these investors has established a solid institutional shareholder base for the company at the point of listing.

IN a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP), Malaysia’s statutory retirement fund, became a substantial shareholder through its participation in the IPO.

On December 8, 2025, KWAP subscribed for 87.28 million ordinary shares in Orkim.

This represents an aggregate equity interest of 8.728%, comprising a direct holding of 58.0 million shares, or 5.8%, and an indirect or deemed interest of 29.28 million shares, or 2.928%.

KWAP’s investment reflects its long-term mandate and confidence in Orkim’s growth prospects as a newly listed entity.

International institutional participation was led by Prudential plc, a United Kingdom-based global financial services group, through its asset management arm, Eastspring Investments Bhd.

Prudential plc acquired an additional 5.55 million ordinary shares in Orkim via Eastspring’s managed funds, also on December 9, 2025.

Following this acquisition, Prudential plc holds a total of 56.87 million shares, representing a 5.687% direct equity interest in the company.

The increased shareholding signals continued institutional support from global investors with a long-term investment outlook.

The Employees Provident Fund Board (EPF), Malaysia’s largest retirement savings institution, also emerged as a substantial shareholder following the IPO.

EPF acquired 68.44 million ordinary shares, representing a 6.844% direct interest in Orkim.

The shares are held through Citigroup Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn Bhd, in line with customary custodial arrangements for institutional investments.

Together, the participation of KWAP, EPF, and Prudential plc anchors Orkim’s post-listing shareholder register with well-established institutional investors.

Their presence provides stability to the company’s equity base and reflects strong endorsement of Orkim’s business model, strategic direction, and long-term value creation as it enters its next phase of growth as a listed company.
