Thunderstorm and heavy rain warning issued for all states until 5 pm

MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds across all states and federal territories until 5 pm today

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a nationwide warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds.

The adverse weather conditions are forecast to persist until 5 pm today.

The warning covers the entire states of Perlis, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

In Kedah, affected areas include Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu.

The warning for Perak applies to Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim.

In Kelantan, the areas are Pasir Mas, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang.

Terengganu districts affected are Besut, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman.

Pahang areas forecast to experience the storms are Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Bentong, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin.

In Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang are included in the warning.

Johor districts affected are Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi.

For Sarawak, the warning covers Kapit, Bintulu and the Subis area in Miri.

In Sabah, affected areas include the interior districts of Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Nabawan.

The West Coast areas of Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud are also included.

The warning also covers Tawau and Lahad Datu in the Tawau division, as well as Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan in the Sandakan division. – Bernama
