Woman pays RM18.75 for sotong goreng, receives 5 paper-thin slices

The sotong goreng slices were reportedly extremely thin, with only faint traces of yellow breading.

A woman has taken to social media to express her frustration after allegedly receiving only five paper-thin slices of sotong goreng despite paying RM18.75 for the dish.

Sharing photos of the takeaway container on her Threads account, the woman said she was shocked by the portion, which appeared to consist largely of onions, carrots and long beans, with minimal squid.

To make matters worse, the squid slices were reportedly extremely thin, with only faint traces of yellow breading. Despite paying a total of RM22.15 — including RM3.40 in delivery fees — only five pieces of squid could be seen in the container.

Directing her anger at the seller, she wrote:

“To the owner!! Don’t do business anymore!! If I wasn’t sick, I would’ve gone out to buy it myself!!

But I ordered from you! And this is what I got!! I don’t halal my money at your shop!! And I will NEVER eat food like this from you.”

Anticipating backlash from other users, she added:

“If you say I’m ungrateful, do you honestly think this is food I deserve to receive?”

Her post quickly went viral, garnering more than 800 comments from Malaysian netizens, many of whom expressed disbelief over the meagre portion of squid.

Several netizens advised her to lodge a complaint with the food delivery platform she used and seek a refund, while others criticised the seller for poor portion control and quality.
