TEKUN Nasional supports Steven Sim’s leadership to empower MSMEs, having disbursed RM11.15 billion in financing to over 866,000 entrepreneurs.
KUALA LUMPUR: The National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN Nasional) has pledged its full support to newly appointed Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister Steven Sim.
TEKUN Nasional chairman Datuk Abdullah Sani Abd Hamid expressed confidence that Sim’s leadership would strengthen the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector.
He said refreshed strategies and improved financing would position MSMEs as the backbone of a more inclusive and resilient national economy.
“TEKUN Nasional welcomes Steven Sim’s appointment and expresses full confidence in his leadership in advancing the MSME empowerment agenda,” Abdullah Sani said in a statement.
He added that the agency fully supports empowerment policies that cut across all races and regions.
To date, TEKUN Nasional has disbursed 866,476 financing facilities worth RM11.15 billion to entrepreneurs nationwide since 1998.
The agency will also provide a six-month interest-free moratorium to all TEKUN entrepreneurs affected by recent floods.
“This immediate measure is to ease financial burdens and support business recovery,” Abdullah Sani stated.
Furthermore, the allocation for the Bumiputera Financing Fund will be increased from RM300 million in 2025 to RM500 million in 2026.
Financing for Indian entrepreneurs under the SPUMI scheme will also rise from RM30 million this year to RM50 million next year.
