Pahang Sultan, Tengku Ampuan treat Kuantan flood victims to meals cooked by palace chefs

Pahang Sultan and Tengku Ampuan arranged for palace chefs to cook and deliver 340 meals to flood victims in Kuantan relief centres.

KUANTAN: Flood victims here received a special treat when the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, contributed food prepared by chefs at Istana Abdulaziz here.

A total of 340 packets of various meals, namely ‘fried rice with sunny-side-up egg’, ‘fried kuetiau with sunny-side-up egg’, and ‘fried vermicelli with sunny-side-up egg’, along with drinks, were distributed at the temporary relief centre (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Melati here today.

This is the third day that the palace kitchen has been bustling since 5.30 am to prepare the food contributed by the Pahang Sultan and Tengku Ampuan.

The Royal couple’s concerns are undeniable because they are like DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) or a natural trait that is caring, people-friendly, and often goes down to the ground, according to a Facebook post by the Pahang Sultanate.

According to the same post, Tunku Azizah also instructed the palace chefs to cook every day and send food to flood victims housed at PPS, especially around Kuantan.

Led by the Comptroller of the Royal Household (Royal Bijaya Diraja) of the Sultan of Pahang, Major General Datuk Mohamed Zahari Yahya, today’s delivery was carried out by the Pahang Sultanate Disaster Relief Team using a three-tonne HICOM Handalan II GS cargo truck (4th Mechanised Brigade) due to the road conditions still being flooded.

Mohamed Zahari also inspected the cleanliness, facilities, and safety conditions around the PPS, as instructed by the Pahang ruler.

Currently, the Pahang Sultan and Tengku Ampuan and family are in Bangkok, Thailand, to provide support to their son, Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah, who is representing Malaysia in polo at the SEA Games Thailand 2025.
