A two-year-old girl was killed after her father accidentally reversed into her at their home in Tangkak, with the case being investigated for reckless driving
TANGKAK: A two-year-old girl died after being struck by a car her father was reversing at their home in Taman Kesang Baru, Parit Bunga.
Tangkak district deputy police chief DSP Jamellulkamal Abdul Halim said the incident occurred at 8.15 am on Thursday.
Initial investigations found the father was reversing his Suzuki Swift from the garage when the child suddenly ran out of the house.
The 30-year-old man accidentally knocked down the toddler, who was in the vehicle’s path.
The victim sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at 7.30 pm while receiving treatment at Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
“We urge the public to be mindful of young children’s whereabouts around the house,” Jamellulkamal said in a statement.
