A 34-year-old man was found dead inside his car after it plunged into a river near Parit, Perak, following a search and rescue operation

IPOH: A man was found dead inside his car after it plunged into a river near Sekolah Kebangsaan Layang-Layang Kanan in Parit.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting assistant director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said the 34-year-old victim was discovered at 2.10 pm.

The department received an emergency call about the incident at 11.13 pm on December 19.

A team of 10 personnel from the Parit Fire and Rescue Station was immediately deployed to the scene.

The search and rescue operation resumed at 8 am today with assistance from the police and several villagers.

“The search operation was conducted using boats along a distance of 100 metres heading downstream from the jetty where the victim’s car plunged into the river,” Shazlean said in a statement.

Fire and Rescue Department personnel located the vehicle approximately 20 metres away from the entry point.

A crane was requested to assist in the recovery of the car from the water.

The victim’s body was found inside the vehicle and extricated after investigations were completed.

The body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action.

The operation involved 11 fire personnel, 10 police officers, and about 15 villagers.

It concluded at 3.30 pm.
