Double-decker express bus with 40 passengers collides with lorry on North-South Expressway in Rembau

PETALING JAYA: A double-decker express bus carrying 40 passengers collided with a lorry on the North-South Expressway near Rembau early this morning, leaving only the bus driver injured.

The accident occurred at approximately 3.45am when the northbound express bus struck the rear of a lorry travelling in the left lane of the highway.

According to a spokesperson from the Negri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department, emergency services received notification of the incident at 3.48am and rescue teams reached the location by 4.17am.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the bus driver trapped in his seat following the impact. Rescue personnel worked to free him from the vehicle before transporting him to Rembau Hospital where he received treatment for leg injuries.

All 40 passengers aboard the express bus emerged from the accident without injuries. They were able to evacuate the vehicle independently immediately following the collision.

The lorry driver also escaped the incident unharmed.

The cause of the collision and further details about the circumstances leading to the crash have not been disclosed.
