A 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit near Goroka, Papua New Guinea, at a depth of 10 km, with no tsunami threat to Malaysia reported
KUALA LUMPUR: A strong 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Papua New Guinea region at 6.31 pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department, in a statement, said the earthquake occurred 43 km north of Goroka, with a depth of 10 km.
However, it said there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
