Johor catat denda RM3.81 juta bagi kesalahan alam sekitar tahun ini

JAS Johor dedahkan jumlah denda kesalahan alam sekitar tahun ini mencecah RM3.81 juta, dengan hukuman penjara terkumpul 1 tahun 4 bulan.

JOHOR BAHRU: Jumlah denda yang dikenakan mahkamah bagi kesalahan alam sekitar di Johor tahun ini mencecah RM3.81 juta.

Hukuman penjara terkumpul pula adalah selama satu tahun empat bulan bagi kes yang disabitkan di bawah Akta Kualiti Alam Sekeliling 1974.

Pengarah Jabatan Alam Sekitar (JAS) Johor Dr Mohd Famey Yusoff berkata hukuman itu dijatuhkan terhadap individu dan pihak bertanggungjawab.

“Hukuman yang dijatuhkan merangkumi penjara sehingga 16 bulan berserta denda, serta denda sehingga RM450,000,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan.

Beliau menegaskan pelaksanaan hukuman bertujuan memberi kesan pencegahan yang jelas serta menghalang pengulangan kesalahan.

Mohd Famey berkata JAS akan terus mengutamakan penguatkuasaan kesalahan di bawah Seksyen 34A, 34B dan 18 Akta Kualiti Alam Sekeliling 1974.

Kesalahan tersebut melibatkan pencemaran serius serta pengurusan bahan berbahaya tanpa kelulusan.

Beliau menyeru semua pemilik premis dan pengusaha industri supaya mematuhi peruntukan undang-undang.

Mereka juga perlu memastikan sistem kawalan pencemaran berfungsi dengan berkesan.

“Pematuhan undang-undang alam sekitar bukan sahaja kewajipan perundangan, tetapi juga tanggungjawab bersama,” katanya.

Orang awam digalakkan menyalurkan maklumat dan aduan melalui talian bebas tol 1-800-88-2727 yang beroperasi 24 jam.

Aduan juga boleh dibuat melalui e-mel [email protected] atau portal e-Aduan JAS.
