Severe rain warning issued for 4 states until Monday

Continuous heavy rain alert for Pahang, Johor, Kelantan and Terengganu, with thunderstorms forecast in seven other states and Labuan.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe continuous heavy rain warning for Pahang and Johor until Monday.

In Pahang, the alert covers Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin, while in Johor it involves Mersing.

A separate severe heavy rain warning is in effect for Kelantan, Terengganu, and parts of Pahang and Johor.

The affected areas in Pahang are Jerantut, Maran and Bera, while in Johor they are Segamat, Kluang and Kota Tinggi.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast for seven states and the Federal Territory of Labuan until 6 pm today.

In Perak, severe weather is expected in Batang Padang.

The warning for Pahang also covers Cameron Highlands and Lipis.

In Negeri Sembilan, the affected areas are Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin, while the entire state of Melaka is under alert.

In Johor, the districts of Tangkak, Batu Pahat and Pontian are included.

A similar warning has been issued for Sarawak, involving Kuching, Serian, Samarahan and Limbang.

The alert for Sabah covers the Interior, West Coast, Tawau, Sandakan and Kudat districts, in addition to Labuan.
