PETALING JAYA: Former Perak menteri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has announced his resignation as chairman of Perikatan Nasional (PN) Perak, effective Jan 1, following Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s decision to step down as PN chairman.
In a statement, Ahmad Faizal, who is also Bersatu vice-president, said he respects Muhyiddin’s decision and acknowledged that appointment powers within PN are the prerogative of the coalition’s chairman.
“Taking note of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s decision to resign as PN chairman, and respecting that the power of appointment is the prerogative of the chairman, I hereby announce my resignation as PN Perak chairman,” he said.

“I would like to record my highest appreciation and sincere thanks to all PN Perak leaders and members of its component parties for the support and confidence given to me while I carried this responsibility,” he said.
