Crystal Palace manager remains tight-lipped on Brennan Johnson transfer

Oliver Glasner refuses to confirm Crystal Palace’s reported £35 million deal for Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson, saying “everything is possible” in January.

CRYSTAL Palace manager Oliver Glasner was evasive when questioned about his club’s reported pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson.

Reports on Tuesday indicated Palace and Spurs had agreed a fee of £35 million for the Welsh international.

The 24-year-old has yet to make a final decision on his future, with Bournemouth also linked with a January move.

Asked about the potential transfer ahead of Thursday’s match against Fulham, Glasner offered little clarity.

“Let’s see what’s happening,” the manager told a press conference.

“Tomorrow starts the next crazy month in football and I don’t know.”

Glasner recounted his past experiences with the unpredictability of the transfer market.

“I have experienced so many different situations that you thought the player is already here and then he is not here, or you thought the player would definitely stay and then he leaves.”

He emphasised that the coming month would be fluid.

“The next 31 days will be everything is possible like always and everything I say today might be wrong in two days.”

Glasner concluded by stating his preference to avoid public speculation on transfers.

“That is why I don’t really care about it and especially why I don’t want to talk about it in public.”

Johnson was Tottenham’s top scorer in the 2024/25 season.

He also scored the winning goal in Spurs’ Europa League final victory over Manchester United in Bilbao.

However, the forward has found playing time limited under current manager Thomas Frank this term. – AFP
