The new coordinated inspection process at KLIA Terminal 1 departure gates receives positive feedback, easing congestion and improving passenger movement.
KUALA LUMPUR: The newly implemented coordinated inspection process at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 departure gates has received positive feedback from travellers.
Royal Malaysian Customs Department director-general Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin said the initiative has smoothed passenger flow at the country’s main gateway.
“It has indeed made things easier for passengers,” she told Bernama after observing operations early this morning.

Anis Rizana noted that some overnight flight crew gave a thumbs up to officers at the airport following the changes.
She confirmed the relocation of unused Customs scanning machines proceeded smoothly without affecting passenger movement.
The Transport Ministry said the new initiative allows passengers to experience a smoother flow before boarding their flights.
It is also designed to reduce congestion and waiting time at the departure zone.
Customs stated the improvements to scanning and detection processes are part of efforts to optimise traffic flow at the airport.
Security screening at the departure gates is now carried out by the Aviation Security (AVSEC) division of Malaysia Airports.
This approach strengthens operational cooperation between Customs, the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency, and AVSEC.
The coordinated inspections utilise risk-based scanning methods supported by intelligence and current trend analysis. – Bernama
