A new online dashboard to monitor MA63 implementation will launch by month’s end, aiming to increase transparency on issues like Sabah’s 40% revenue claim.
KUALA LUMPUR: A new online dashboard to track the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) will be launched by the end of this month.
Minister for Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Datuk Mustapha Sakmud announced the initiative, which was approved by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
He said the dashboard aims to increase transparency, particularly regarding Sabah’s claim for a 40% revenue entitlement.
“The MADANI government, under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, remains steadfast in protecting and advancing the rights and interests of Sabah and Sarawak,” Mustapha said in his New Year 2026 message.
He added that the MA63 negotiation platform has been strengthened with the formation of the MA63 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63).
The council is chaired by the Prime Minister, while a Technical Committee is led by Fadillah.
So far, 13 out of 29 MA63 issues have been resolved.
Nine were settled under the current administration and four under the previous one.
“This is the most significant progress on MA63 implementation by any administration to date,” Mustapha stated.
Key resolutions include recognising key state technical departments under Treasury Directive 182.
The government has also devolved regulatory authority over gas and electricity supply to the state governments of Sabah and Sarawak.
Mustapha noted that negotiations on the remaining 16 MA63 matters are ongoing via the MTPMA63 council.
The Prime Minister’s Department for Sabah and Sarawak Affairs is acting as the joint secretariat to monitor the process.
The department will also continue to facilitate engagement sessions with relevant stakeholders to advance MA63 implementation.
