Terengganu DID warns 64 villages near 13 river mouths could flood due to a high tide phenomenon expected to last until January 5.
KUALA TERENGGANU: A total of 64 villages located near 13 river mouths in Terengganu are at risk of flooding due to a high tide phenomenon expected from January 1 to 5.
Terengganu Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID) director Ir Osman Abdullah said the high tide could reach between 2.7 metres and 3.5 metres.
He warned this could cause flooding in low-lying areas, beaches, and river mouths.

In the Kuala Terengganu district, 15 locations are expected to be affected, including Kampung Pulau Duyong, Pulau Rusa, and Kampung Hiliran.
Other locations are Pulau Sekati, Pulau Ketam, Kampung Losong, and Kampung Pulau Duyong Besar.
The list also includes Taman Lembah Harapan, Kampung Kubang Ikan, and Taman Tok Adis.
Affected areas in the Kuala Nerus district include Kampung Seberang Takir, Kampung Ulu Takir, and Kampung Baru Seberang Takir.
Locations in the Kemaman district include Pulau Skepeng Kuala Kemaman, Pengkalan Cicar Bukit Kuang, and Kampung Bakau Tinggi.
Six locations in the Setiu district are also at risk, such as Kampung Gong Batu and Kampung Pengkalan Gelap.
In Dungun, the threatened areas include Kampung Seberang Pintasan, Kampung Teluk Bidara, and Kampung Tanjung Jara.
Areas that may be affected in the Besut district include Kampung Pengkalan Atap and Kampung Teluk Budu.
The affected areas in the Marang district include Kampung Rusila, Kampung Rhu Dua, and Kampung Rhu Rendang.
