Strasbourg’s Rosenior coy on Chelsea manager speculation

Strasbourg coach Liam Rosenior dismisses rumours linking him to the Chelsea job, insisting his focus remains on his current club amid reported interest.

STRASBOURG: Strasbourg coach Liam Rosenior has dismissed speculation linking him with the vacant manager’s job at Chelsea.

The Englishman is reportedly a leading candidate to replace Enzo Maresca, who left the struggling Premier League side on Thursday.

“I don’t take notice. If you’re a manager and you take notice of what’s being said in the media, you will probably go crazy,” Rosenior said on Friday.

He insisted his focus was solely on Strasbourg’s upcoming Ligue 1 match against Nice.

“My job is here. I love this club. I’m working to win the game tomorrow,” he stated.

Rosenior acknowledged the rumours were a reflection of the good work done at the French club.

When asked if he would still be at Strasbourg in six months, he was less definitive.

“You cannot guarantee anything in life,” Rosenior said.

“In terms of interest from other clubs, I’ve had a lot of interest, a lot of approaches that I have always been open with the club about.”

He refused to rule out a future move, adding that “in life, things happen.”

Rosenior has impressed since taking charge at Strasbourg, guiding them to a seventh-place finish and European qualification last season.

The club is owned by BlueCo, the parent company of Chelsea.

This season, Strasbourg are seventh in Ligue 1 and lead their Europa Conference League group.
