PM Anwar to visit Türkiye to strengthen bilateral ties

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s official visit to Türkiye aims to boost strategic cooperation in trade, defence, and education through high-level meetings.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will begin an official visit to Türkiye tomorrow.

The visit, lasting until January 8, aims to strengthen long-standing bilateral relations between the two nations.

Anwar is scheduled to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

They will jointly chair a meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

The visit reflects a shared commitment to enhance strategic cooperation in a structured manner.

Discussions will cover cooperation in trade, investment, defence, technology, and education.

Anwar will also deliver a public lecture and engage with the Turkish business community.

He will hold a session with the Malaysian diaspora in Türkiye.

In Istanbul, the focus will shift to strengthening economic cooperation.

This will include roundtable sessions with Turkish companies and media interactions.

The visit reflects the government’s resolve to expand international cooperation networks.

It is anchored in the principles of Malaysia MADANI for the nation’s long-term benefit.

Separately, the government will strengthen communications for 2026.

This is to ensure clear and factual public information on services and opportunities.

The year also brings a new focus through the Visit Malaysia 2026 tourism initiative.

The government aims to boost tourism and drive the local economy.
