GEORGE TOWN: The family of Bukit Gelugor by-election candidate Ramkarpal Singh has expressed its regret over insinuations against his sexuality.
Penang Housing Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo, Ramkarpal’s brother, said the family has been humiliated by what happened.
He said this was a great slur to the late Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh who had held the press corp in high regard.
“It is hoped by the family that better restraint will be practised by members of the media,” he said in a press conference today at the Penang Legislative building with Ramkarpal and Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) by-election candidate Datuk Huan Cheng Guan reportedly said he was curious over photographs of muscular men on Ramkarpal’s Facebook page.
Huan had asked reporters on his campaign trail whether something is wrong with the 38-year-old lawyer for being unmarried at that age.
Ramkarpal has since laughed off the comments, saying he was available for marriage. but was not a homosexual.
