MH17: Minute of silence observed twice at KLIA, klia2

SEPANG: Airport staff and passengers at both Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and klia2 observed a minute-of-silence twice, to pay their respects to the 20 MH17 tragedy victims, whose remains arrived at Kompleks Bunga Raya KLIA today.
The first public announcement to observe a minute of silence was made at both airport terminals before 10am.
At 10.30am, all staff and passengers stopped in their tracks once the announcement was made.
The second announcement came at about 10.55am, when the remains were placed in all the hearses. During the second minute-of-silence, an Al-Fatihah prayer was recited.
A cabin crew member of Malaysian Airlines (MAS) who did not want to be named, said she will be flying to Mumbai in the evening, but wanted to come to KLIA as early as 9am to pay her last respects to her colleagues.
The flight attendant, who has been a Malaysia Airlines staff for 21 years, said she had flown with some of the MH17 victims in several occasions in the past.
"It's a sad moment for me to see that some of the remains has been brought back," she said while weeping.
Meanwhile at KLIA, two good friends, Juanita Mohd Shariff and Che Engku Amin Che Engku Aziz from Puchong, made 600 sandwiches to distribute for free to all those who were gathered to witness this ceremony.
"We wanted to show the spirit of unity and we hope that this small effort can make all Malaysians mourn in unity, and enjoy the sandwiches that we have made," Juanita said.
