GEORGE TOWN: The federal government must seriously look into the crisis surrounding Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUMCS) said Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy.
He said stern action must be taken by government against the founder Datuk Dr Zainuddin Wazir for the financial issues facing AUCMS.
"About 500 staff members have not received their salary for months, some of them have not been paid for a year and 2 months," he said at the press conference.
Ramasamy also revealed that the Employees provident funds (EPF) which had been cut off from the staff's salaries was not submitted to the EPF Department.
He said the staffs had lodged about fifty police reports and about hundered and fifty of them have made complaints to the officials regarding the unpaid salaries but no feedback have been recevived from the authorities.
"It is very sad to hear that, many of them have been suffering in their life for so long without salary and I'm wondering why our Human Resource Minister Richard Riot does not seem to be concerned about this serious issue,"stressed Ramasamy.
He called upon ministry of education to provide the latest information and the date to operate new university to replace AUCMS.
He also said the students who are now studying at other colleges temporarily, wish to come back to their University.
One of the affected staff who declined to be named told reporters that they hope authorities will take necessary action and help them to get what they should get back.
"I hope this will not end here in this press conference, we have come to many avenue to solve our problem but it was all fallen to deaf ear.
"That's why we decided to meet our Deputy Chief Minister P. Ramasamy in finding ways to solving our woes", she said.
On Sept 2014, some 100 AUCMS personnel held a rally outside the Labour office as they claimed there were owed some RM800,000 in total over unpaid salaries.
Staff are not the only ones affected by the alleged financial crisis as many of its students have failed to secure placements in other medical institution during the height of the crisis .
However most of the students from the university have found place in other institution to continue their studies.
