Sultan of Johor actively involved in military
JOHOR BARU: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar was born on Nov 22, 1958 in Johor Baru and has followed the footsteps of the previous Johor royal family by actively involving himself in military, management and administration acitivities.
According to the official website for the Sultan Johor coronation, http://kemahkotaan.johor.gov.my/, all of the activities he participated in has become the foundation of shaping up his character such as his personality, being disciplined, and his leadership qualities.

After completing his studies, Sultan Ibrahim did military training at the Army Training Centre (Pulada) in Kota Tinggi before furthering his studies in Fort Benning, Georgia, the US.
While inn the US, Sultan Ibrahim also took part in the "airborne" and "ranger" training for infantry officers before attending the "American Special Forces" and "Pathfinder" training where he completed a total of 19 parachute jumps, eight of them was done at night.
Sultan Ibrahim was selected and commissioned to receive the wings and serve as a commando and was commissioned as a member of the US Sea, Air, Land Team (SEAL team) apart from being chosen as an honorary member of Indonesia's Commando Special Forces (KOPASSUS) after completing several air jumps in Bandung, Indonesia.
Upon returning to Johor, he was appointed as Deputy Commanding Officer of the "Askar Timbalan Setia Negeri" and at the same time, attended the helicopter pilot training with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) apart from participating in a three-month training with the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) in Lumut, Perak.
Apart from the military training, Sultan Ibrahim furthered his studies at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Boston, Massachusetts, US and completed two courses there – the"Southeast Asian Strategic Studies" and the "International Laws of the Seas".
In terms of administration, he had served the Johor state government and was assigned to several offices such as the State Secretariat office, the Treasury, Land Office, Town and Country Planning Department, Forestry Department, Agriculture Department to learn about the management and administration of the Johor state government.
Sultan Ibrahim was made the Tunku Mahkota of Johor on July 3, 1981, and married Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah on Sept 22, 1983.
Following the demise of Sultan Iskandar, Sultan Ibrahim was made the Sultan of Johor on Jan 23, 2010. – Bernama
