KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should hold a 'four-eyed' meeting to resolve any dispute between them, according to Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pix).
He said both of them needed to face each other without the presence of a third person acting as the peacemaker.
"I think the deputy prime minister, who is also Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, does not have to become a peacemaker as suggested by Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
"There will be no third party that can solve this crisis. Only a 'four-eyed' discussion can resolve it," he told reporters after attending the 'Art of Speed' programme at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) here, today.
Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat had earlier stated that Muhyiddin should initiate steps to reunite the two leaders.

Commenting further on the dialogue programme between the prime minister and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) which was organised at Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, Putra World Trade Centre on Friday, Khairy said the organisers should invite representatives involved in issues related to the state-owned investment company, 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
"Whoever is invited must have something to do with issues in the proceedings, the proposal to call Tun M (Tun Dr Mahathir), Tun M has nothing to do with 1MDB," he said.
The dialog was called off after a commotion ensued outside the hall.
An estimated 1,500 delegates from various NGOs had arrived since 9am on the day for the dialogue.
Earlier that morning, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar through his Twitter account, had ordered the dialogue to be cancelled for public order and safety reasons. – Bernama
