IPOH: Four people were injured when a light aircraft, believed to be a Piper PA-32, plunged into the sea off Kampung Teluk Dalam, near Pangkor Island today.
All four passengers, including a male Singaporean and a woman from China, were pulled to safety by the public.
All of them were sent to a health clinic on the island for outpatient treatment.
The plane plunged into the sea minutes after it took off from the Pangkor Island airstrip at 1.30pm.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said initial investigations revealed the plane flew about 200m before it got entangled in the fencing.
This caused the pilot to make an emergency landing in the sea about 100m from the scene of the mishap.
Firemen who arrived at the scene pulled the plane to the beach before it drifted into the deep sea.
The Piper PA-32 is a series of single-engine fixed landing gear light aircraft manufactured in the United States by Piper Aircraft between 1965 and 2007.
The PA-32 is used around the world for private transportation, air taxi services, bush support, and medical evacuation flights.
