Same day hearing for applications against AG

    KUALA LUMPUR: Two judicial review applications filed by Datuk Khairuddin Abu Hassan and Datuk Zaid Ibrahim against the Attorney-General's decision not to prosecute the prime minister will be proposed to be heard on the same day.
    Lawyer Haniff Khatri Abdulla said he had informed the (High Court) deputy registrar Nor Hasniah Abd Razak over another application on the same matter.
    "Both the matters are to be heard by the same judge," said Haniff outside of the court.
    He said both parties would be writing to the court, requesting for the applications to be heard together as it involves the same matter.
    "We will be proposing to the court that the matter can be heard, on the same day," said Haniff.
    Former Umno member Khairuddin's judicial review is fixed to be heard on March 18 while Zaid's judicial review is set to be heard on March 4.
    Haniff added that Senior Federal Counsel Shamsul Bolhassan had informed the deputy registrar that he would be raising an objection (during the application for leave for judicial review).
    However, there are no details on the objection.
    On Feb 3,Khairuddin had filed a judicial review challenging a decision not to prosecute Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak over a financial matter.
    Khairuddin is seeking a court order to quash Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali's decision to order the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to close investigations on the RM2.6 billion donation.
    On Feb 2, Zaid had filed an application for judicial review against the AG's decision on the same matter.
