PETALING JAYA: The organiser of the forum featuring controversial Muslim preacher Dr Zakir Naik at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil expect a full house on Saturday.
Programme director Abu Shariz Sarajun Hoda told Utusan Malaysia that to date 18,000 tickets for the event have been fully distributed to the public.
He said more than 30,000 people are expected to attend the talk titled: "Women's Rights in Islam".
Abu Shariz said for Zakir's talk at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia (Utem) in Malacca on Sunday, a total of 5,000 free tickets have been distributed to the public.
"We are well prepared to ensure the programme runs smoothly. Furthermore, several hurdles that we had faced have somehow helped us to promote the programme," he said.
Abu Shariz said the controversy surrounding Zakir's lectures would not deter the organisers from hosting similar programmes in the future.
He said complaints by certain parties on Zakir's lectures were due to a lack of accurate information.
It was reported on Monday that Zakir's talk in Malacca titled: "Similarities between Hinduism and Islam" would be cancelled following public outcry.
However, the ban was lifted on the condition that the theme of the talk be changed.
