Micrsoft Malaysia Launches Tech4Good Event to empower NGOs with digital transformation

KUALA LUMPUR: Microsoft Malaysia today launched "Tech4Good" to provide non-governmental organisations (NGOs) with the technology, knowledge, community and resources they need to fulfil their missions.
Women, Family and Community Development deputy minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said the Tech4Good will provide a platform for NGOs to have access to world-class solutions and technology that support their efforts in serving their communities, including youth, women, undocumented children and persons with disabilities.
In commending Microsoft Malaysia and its Yayasan Salam Malaysia (YSM) partner, she said activities under the initiative showcased best practices, tech tips and tricks, and case studies on leveraging Microsoft technologies to more than 100 NGOs.
"I commend Microsoft for its efforts in supporting NGOs with 21st century technology and resources for their digital transformation. NGOs contribute heavily in driving developmental activities to bring sustainable change for various communities in Malaysia," she added.
She said the Ministry believes NGOs can be more effective in achieving results by leveraging with modern technology.
"NGOs can scale up operations, be more efficient, increase reach, deliver effective results and realise their goals," said Chew.
Meanwhile, YSM chief executive officer Md Ghani Ibrahim said: "Technology has changed the world and the way we communicate, and being at the forefront of this evolution will help modernize the way our volunteers work to bring about change."
He said they were happy to partner Microsoft and benefit from its technologies which break down borders for their volunteers serving at home and overseas to help people and communities in need.
Tech4Good is part of Microsoft Malaysia's Philanthropy week, a wider campaign that runs from May 28 to June 12. The campaign includes partnership with various private and non-profit entities such as Kidzania, PS The Children, Gorgeous Geeks, Yayasalm Generasi Gemilang, Taylor's University and YSM.
