Nazri: Adenan was a true Malaysian

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) will continue to lead Sarawak if the successor of the late Tan Sri Adenan Satem continues with his leadership style, said Umno Supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz (pix).
Nazri said Adenan's leadership had led to BN clinching a landslide victory in the state elections last year.
"I am saddened (over Adenan's passing), because this man is a true Malaysian, he saw no difference between people of different communities and beliefs, and he represents all Malaysians, and we have lost someone who's willing to fight.
"Of course if we continue with his style, if other leaders can follow his template, I am sure we can garner more support in the next election," Nazri said during a press conference at the Cafe Malaysia exhibition held at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Center here.
Adenan died at the age of 72 at the Sarawak Heart Centre in Kota Samarahan at 1.25pm on Wednesday due to a heart attack.
Meanwhile, Nazri said Malaysia is still in the midst of ironing out issues with countries involved in sending foreign workers before implementing the Employers Mandatory Commitment (EMC) policy.
"It's not easy. If the workers are Malaysian then we can straightaway have a policy and implement it.
"But because this involves workers from other countries they have their own requirements, it is only natural their citizens are concerned," Nazri said.
