Al Jufferi to settle down after winning gold

KUALA LUMPUR: World champion Mohd Al Jufferi Jamari will settle down after winning the SEA Games gold medal in the putra E tanding class for the fourth time consecutively at the Stadium Juara, Bukit Jalil, here today.
The 25-year-old silat exponent proved that he was in a class of his own when he needed less than five minutes to defend his SEA Games gold by defeating opponent Pham Tuan Anh from Vietnam in the final.
The three-time world champion led 5-0 in the second round when the Vietnamese silat exponent conceded defeat after being injured following a quick attack by the 2015 National Athlete.
The bronze medal went to Kuibrohem Kubaha from Thailand and Mohammad Syahir Agus from Singapore.
Speaking to reporters after the victory, Mohd Al Jufferi announced Nov 3 as the date for the solemnisation of his marriage to Nurul Farhana Abd Majid.
"Subsequently, I am targeting for the SEA Games gold medal in Jakarta. Next year, I will be competing in the Asian Games for the first time," he said after the prize-giving ceremony.
Mohd Al-Jufferi won the SEA Games gold medal for three times consecutively since 2011 in Indonesia, and repeated the feat in Myanmar in 2013 before achieving a hat-trick at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.
Meanwhile, another world champion, Razak Ghazali was awarded an absolute victory when the Thai silat exponent, Pornteb Poolkaew committed a serious offence by kicking his opponent's right rib after he had locked his feet using the scissors kick in the putra D class tanding event.
In the women's D class (60-65kg), Siti Shazwana Ajak also did well to win the gold by defeating Rewadee Damsri from Thailand 5-0. — Bernama
