GEORGE TOWN: Attractive travel packages to Macao will be available at the Penang Matta Fair which will be held next Friday at the Straits Quay Convention Centre (SQCC).
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Malaysia Manager of Trade Tourism, Veron Ng, said visitors of the three day fair can also look forward to a line-up of exciting activities that will introduce Macao to Penangites.
She said activities such as Macanes food sampling and a special Macao souvenirs workshop will offer visitors a glimpse of the uniqueness and excitement that Macao has to offer.
"Having just been awarded the Unesco City of Gastronomy by the UCCN in October 2017, this third city of China is definitely a must-visit destination for foodies," she said during a press conference at the Strait Quay Marina Mall today.
Ng said MGTO aims to attract more visitors to Macao by highlighting the destination's strengths and geographic advantages in the region, in line with Macao's target to achieve up to 40 million annual visitor arrivals by 2025.
During the press conference Matta Hon Secretary-General Nigel Wong said 46 organisations comprising of 27 travel and tour agencies, five local state government tourism offices, three national tourism offices, hotels, resorts and theme parks will participate in this year's event.
"We are expecting a positive outcome as in Penang the travel industry looks very healthy and encouraging," he said.
Wong said in conjunction with the Penang Matta Fair, visitors could also experience a Market Street Bazaar organised by SQCC, with 130 booths at the Market Street 1, Market Street 2 and Straits Court from March 31 to April 1.
He said the first 150 visitors of the fair will receive Market Street Bazaar discount vouchers on Saturday and Sunday, to be distributed at the entrance counter of the fair.
