It's not everyday that water tanks fall from the sky, which is what happened near the Sinsuran Complex in Kota Kinabalu, yesterday afternoon.
A Perodua Kancil, innocently parked in a designated parking spot next to a building was crushed by a water tank that fell from the first floor of a nearby building.
The car is considered a total loss due to the severe structural damage to the back half of the car. Fortunately enough, the owner was not in the vehicle at the time and nobody was hurt.
Apparently the half-empty water tank, which contained 200 litres of water had been placed near the edge of the building without any safety barriers. In addition, the structure holding the tank in place was in a state of decay, which may have caused the tank to fall onto the vehicle.
According to the police, the restaurant manager filed an official police report and agreed to bear the cost of the accident after a discussion with the owner of the vehicle.
