China company denies being part of consortium promising commissions to Pahang Regent

PETALING JAYA: A Chinese construction firm has refuted claims that it was part of a consortium which promised hefty commissions to the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah to facilitate a government project.
According to a statement issued by China Rainbow International Investment Co Ltd (CRIIC) president, Li Dacan, it confirmed that the construction firm had recently found that a letter purportedly issued by CRIIC in relation to a Sapura-China Consortium implicating a "Royal Highness" in Malaysia is currently viral in social media.
The construction firm stressed that it has never issued such a letter and and the contents of the letter are totally false.
CRIIC further added that it conducts it business with full integrity and practices the highest standards of corporate governance.
"We are in the midst of seeking legal advice and reserves all rights to seek civil and criminal remedies against the perpetrator of this malicious act," Li added.
An image of a letter stating CRIIC being part of a consortium promised RM1.3 billion commissions to the Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah to facilitate a MRT3 project went viral on social media.
It was reported so far, four consortium had offered to be part of MRT3 project.
They were:
>> Konsortium MMC Corp Bhd-Gamuda Bhd-George Kent Bhd;
>> Usahasama China Communications Construction Company Ltd-China Communications Construction Company (M) Sdn Bhd.
>> Sapura Group-Top International Engineering Corp (TIEC); and
>> Pacific Construction Group Company Ltd- Mudajaya Group Bhd-Jaycorp Engineering and Construction Sdn Bhd (JEC).
