Former taxi driver charged with possessing counterfeit RM100 notes

KUALA LUMPUR: A former taxi driver was charged with possessing 15 pieces of counterfeit RM100 notes, at the Sessions Court here today.
Lim Kok Hooi, 55, claimed trial to having in his possession the counterfeit notes with intention to use it as genuine.
He is alleged to have committed the offence at No. 27, Jalan Perdana, Kepong at about 9.15pm on July 13, 2017.
The offence under Section 489C of the Penal Code is punishable with a jail term of up to 10 years, upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Faridah Nurdinie Bahrum did not offer any bail, but the accused, who spoke Mandarin asked for bail to be set at RM5,000.
Sessions judge Syed Faisal Syed Amir granted RM5,000 bail with one surety and set Sept 26 for mention.
