KOTA TINGGI: The Madrasah Tahfiz Al-Jauhar in Kampung Lukut, near here, is thankful that it still receives strong support from parents and the public despite the controversy surrounding the death of its student, Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi, after he was allegedly beaten by an assistant warden.
Its head, Mohammad Afdhaluddin Ismail, said the school viewed the incident as a lesson and would always improve its weaknesses.
"Whatever that can be improved, we will improve. After the incident, the support from parents for the school remains strong. None of the parents have withdrawn their children from studying here over the incident.
"In fact, after the incident, we received more than 10 applications from new students," he told reporters after the Ihya Ramadan Programme organised by the Tenggara Member of Parliament Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique (pix), who officiated the event here today.
Halimah, who is Deputy Minister for Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, expressed her thanks to the school head and teachers for managing the school well.
She also presented donations of daily essentials to the school. — Bernama
