Passenger-punching bus driver case under investigation: Police

JOHOR BARU: Seremban police will investigate the case involving an express bus driver who allegedly punched a passenger.
The alleged incident took place near Seremban en-route from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Baru around 12.30pm on Sunday.
Supt Rupeah Abd Wahid, deputy district police chief (I) of Johor Baru Selatan said the case will be investigated by Seremban police as the alleged incident took place there.
The complainant, Thomas Fan, an activist, was allegedly punched by the driver, after the former found him asleep at the wheel when the bus stopped at a traffic light junction along Jalan Sungai Ujong.
Following the incident, Fann posted on Facebook that he noticed the driver did not move even when the traffic light turned green at the junction.
He said after he shook the driver awake, he phoned the bus company and requested for a change in driver for safety reasons.
Fann said the driver who drove for about ten minutes, subsequently stopped the bus and confronted him.
The ensuing confrontation resulted in Fann being punched in the left eye by the driver who was angered by his phone call to the company.
Fann said he got onto another bus at the Pagoh R&R and continued his journey to Johor Baru.
He subsequently lodged a police report at the Johor Baru Selatan police station.
