Petronas Dagangan to install 100 ChargeEV stations by 2018
PETALING JAYA: Petronas Dagangan Bhd is committed to installing 100 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, called ChargEV, by 2018.
This comes under the tripartite partnership between Petronas Dagangan, Malaysian Green Technology Corp and Tenaga Nasional Bhd's wholly owned subsidiary TNB Energy Services Sdn Bhd, to collectively increase respective commitments towards achieving Malaysia's overall emission reduction target while catalysing Green Economy initiative.
To date, 55 stations have been installed at Petronas stations nationwide.
According to a joint agreement, Petronas Dagangan will explore strategic partnership to increase the number of ChargEV gradually, in tandem with market demand. It will also look into installing solar photovoltaic (PV) panels at 100 selected stations.
"With this, the energy used to power the ChargEV will be fully renewable and completely carbon-free, making it truly green," it added.
The partnership is an extension from the memorandum of understanding signed in 2016 between Petronas Dagangan and GreenTech Malaysia to install 66 ChargEV stations.
Petronas Dagangan's shares fell two sen to RM24.28 today, while Tenaga Nasional shares were down eight sen to RM14.12.
