PETALING JAYA: Police have shot dead a third suspect involved in a robbery at a goldsmith outlet in Damansara Jaya early this morning.
The 22-year-old man was killed during a shootout between him and policemen at Bukit Beruntung, Hulu Selangor at 1am this morning.
Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said that in the chase, the suspect lost control of his car and hit a tree.
"The suspect then got out of the car and opened fire in an attempt to escape," he said. This prompted police to open fire on him.
Fadzil said policemen recovered a revolver with three rounds of ammunition and three bullet shells and jewellery, believed to be part of the heist that took place on Friday afternoon.
"The suspect had two past criminal records," he said.
It is believed that more than eight men were involved in the robbery.
On Friday evening, Police had shot and killed two robbers and arrested an additional four when they thwarted a jewellery shop robbery at the Atria mall.
