Sabahan becomes first Sports Toto Jackpot multi-millionaire in 2018

PETALING JAYA: A Sabahan became the new year's first Sports Toto multi-millionaire after winning RM15.2 million of the RM19.8 million from Toto 4D Jackpot 1 on Jan 14.
The 54-year-old winner of Kadazan descent has collected his winnings at the Sports Toto head office in Kuala Lumpur.
He said the winning pair of numbers, 9807 and 7908, was from a car number plate. He had leaned on the car when he noticed the number.
"I love to bet so I won't miss out any chances whenever I see any interesting numbers," he said. "Someone parked his car outside my house on Sunday, so I just leaned on it after I reached home and I was attracted to its registration number – 9807.
"I thought it was a beautiful number. That was how I ended up buying that number on a System 12 ticket for RM132 on that day."
The punter, who runs his own business, said he enjoyed buying new sets of numbers for every draw. He would only test his luck with new numbers for just one time.
"It was so bizarre to see that 9807 and 7908 come out as the second and third prize respectively. This won't happen if it is not luck.
"When I found out that I won the jackpot on Sunday night, my heart was not beating too fast but I had many sleepless nights until I had to buy sleeping pills from a pharmacy.
"I thought I should only come to Kuala Lumpur next week to collect my winnings, but I just could not bear the pressure anymore," he said, adding that it was his first time visiting the country's capital.
On his plan for using his newfound wealth, he said he would save the money in the bank and think about it later.
The whopping RM19,846,109.80 of Toto 4D Jackpot 1 on Jan 14 was shared by 10 lucky winners from Sabah, Perak, Penang and Johor.
Being the sole System Play winner, the Kadazan winner from Sabah walked away with the biggest share of the jackpot amounting to RM15,200,060.45 and an additional RM3,360.
