Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail Mosque donates RM30,400 to orphans, asnaf children

KANGAR: The Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail Mosque, here, today donated RM30,400 to 84 orphans and 'asnaf' (eligible for aid) children in conjunction with the 2018 new school session which will begin next week.
Secretary of the mosque committee, Zamri Ali said of that number, 26 orphans each received RM500, while the 58 asnaf children received RM300 each.
The donation was handed over by Perlis Islamic Religious Department (JAIPs) director Dr Hazman Hassan, who is also the mosque committee chairman.
Zamri said the money was donated by members of the public through a special fund set up by the mosque committee for that purpose.
"This is the second time such contribution was given out to the group after the first time for Aidilfitri in June where each orphan was given RM300 and asnaf children, RM100 each," he said.
Meanwhile, Zamri said 150 children, aged six to 13, who participated in the Quran memorisation and Jawi writing camp, organised by the mosque in collaboration with JAIPs and Tuanku Syed Putra Foundation since early this month, had shown impressive improvement. — Bernama
