KLANG: Police have arrested two men to assist investigations into a fight involving traders and a group of enforcement officers from the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) at the Aidilfitri bazaar in Jalan Taiping here, last night.
Klang North police chief ACP Mazelan Paijan said the two men, aged 18 and 41, were detained at the Sungai Kapar Indah Police Station after recording their statements at 5am today.
"The incident happened when a team of enforcement officers began enforcement checks around the bazaar.
"When the complainants (MPK officers) asked them (traders) to show their business license, the two suspects failed to produce it," he said in a statement today.
Mazelan said the the team of officers then moved to seize the drink containers at the stall, but were prevented from doing so by the suspects, and this led to a confrontation between the two parties, with an enforcement officer getting hurt in the process.
Early investigations, he added, showed the suspects' stall had been closed down the previous Sunday, due to a similar offence. — Bernama
