Polis tumpas Geng Kavi, tangkap 6 ahli curi kabel KTMB

Polis tahan 6 ahli Geng Kavi yang aktif mencuri kabel KTMB di Kuala Muda, rampas peralatan dan kabel curi serta sebuah kereta dan motosikal.

SUNGAI PETANI: Polis berjaya menumpaskan kegiatan mencuri kabel milik Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) selepas menahan enam lelaki dipercayai ahli Geng Kavi.

Ketua Polis Daerah Kuala Muda ACP Hanyan Ramlan berkata serbuan itu dilakukan pada Khamis lepas.

Enam anggota kumpulan berusia antara 27 hingga 51 tahun itu aktif melakukan kegiatan jenayah di sekitar Kuala Muda.

Mereka dipercayai terlibat dalam lima kes memotong dan mencuri kabel KTMB.

Polis turut merampas pelbagai peralatan yang digunakan untuk mencuri kabel, lapan gulung kabel KTMB, sebuah motosikal dan sebuah kereta.

Semakan rekod jenayah lampau mendapati kesemua suspek mempunyai rekod kesalahan berkaitan dadah dan jenayah.

Ketua kumpulan yang juga suspek utama berusia 38 tahun itu didapati mempunyai 30 rekod jenayah.

Rekod itu termasuk 12 berkaitan jenayah dan 18 berkaitan dadah.

Kesemua suspek ditahan untuk siasatan lanjut di bawah Seksyen 379 Kanun Keseksaan.

Hanyan berkata modus operandi Geng Kavi ialah menggunakan sebuah kereta bagi memudahkan pergerakan dan menyimpan peralatan serta kabel yang dicuri.

“Mereka menggunakan peralatan khas seperti kapak, tukul besi, mesin pengisar, pemotong dan gergaji besi,” katanya.

Mereka merosakkan pagar milik KTMB, masuk ke kawasan landasan dan mencuri kabel yang berada di dalam manhole.

Suspek telah ditahan reman selama enam hari bermula 11 Disember bagi membantu siasatan. – Bernama
