Malaysia dijangka berdepan cabaran pembangunan pusat data AI dengan sekatan terkini AS – Liew

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia dijangka berdepan cabaran dalam pembangunan pusat data kecerdasan buatan (AI) dengan sekatan yang dikenakan oleh Amerika Syarikat (AS) terhadap eksport cip AI, kata Timbalan Menteri Pelaburan, Perdagangan dan Industri Liew Chin Tong.

Beliau berkata bagaimanapun sekatan berkenaan tidak menjejaskan pembangunan ekosistem pusat data domestik secara keseluruhan.

Menurutnya Malaysia telah diletakkan di bawah kategori Tahap 2 menerusi sekatan baharu itu selain Singapura, Indonesia dan Vietnam, dengan negara-negara berkenaan diberikan akses yang terhad dan terkawal bagi eksport teknologi AI termaju.

“Bagaimanapun, sekatan ini tidak akan menjejaskan operasi pusat data yang lain seperti pusat data yang memberi perkhidmatan transaksi, e-dagang dan penyimpanan data kerana mereka tidak menggunakan cip AI atau teknologi AI termaju,“ katanya pada sesi soal jawab di Dewan Rakyat hari ini.

Beliau berkata demikian bagi menjawab pertanyaan Pang Hok Liong (PH-Labis) mengenai impak terhadap Malaysia untuk menjadi pusat data serantau selepas arahan terbaru AS yang meletakkan Malaysia dalam kategori negara Tahap 2 berhubung akses terhadap eksport cip AI negara itu.

Sementara itu, Liew berkata kerajaan berhasrat untuk membuka akses pasaran produk semikonduktor kepada negara-negara lain termasuk ASEAN, Timur Tengah dan Amerika Selatan.
